State Meet Psych Sheets 1 UPDATE

This is now reflective of updated calculations (the Psych Sheets did not change, I just added correctly now). Definitely should be a close meet.

For anyone who hasn't heard or seen, the Psych Sheets for the State Meet are available.
Girls
Boys
(Thanks to Newark's website for the links).
As for what the Psych Sheets tell us, first of all, and probably most notably, Tanner Kurz is only entered in one individual event. Not sure whether that is for good or if it will change in the coming days. Secondly, we can take a look at scoring out the meet as if everyone swam their seed times, and for boys the top 10 would look like this (assuming I didn't miss anyone - if you notice an error, let me know)
1. Salesianum 334
2. Charter 272
3. AI DuPont 270
4. St. Andrew's 206
5. Archmere 184
6. Tatnall 152
7. Brandywine 136
8. Mt. Pleasant 127
9. Newark 120
10. DMA 113
I don't think I missed any teams, and hopefully not any athletes on teams either, I tried to do this quickly earlier today. I have just started with the girls, and hopefully will have the point spreads up tomorrow, but from what I have heard that other people have calculated, Tatnall was up 1 over Charter.

  1. I've been reading your blog all winter and appreciate your writing. But as we all know, psych sheets are not best times (well for most of the swimmers anyway.) They're based on dual meets swum in not-so-ideal conditions. So to score out the meet based on them is not accurate IMO. I don't think your predictions will be far off tho.

As for Tanner only being in 1 event, as far as I understand, it would be unprecedented to change the entries now. Will be interesting to see what strings are pulled for him, eh?

  2. I definitely agree that many swim better times than what is listed, and especially this year with many of the overall team places as close as they are, it makes it so tough to judge based off of seed times, but it gives us some sort of idea. Keep in mind too, that the scoring means slight changes in place can make a huge difference in points. By the way, scoring is:
    1-20
    2-17
    3-16
    4-15
    5-14
    6-13
    7-12
    8-11
    9-9
    10-7
    11-6
    12-5
    13-4
    14-3
    15-2
    16-1

And yes, theoretically, the entries cannot change at this point, barring the fact that the error was made on the end of those who compiled the psych sheets (which I don't believe it is, simply due to the fact that the computer does takes the entries as sent in to the committee, and formats them into the events and seedings).

  5. I would go far away from his dad... but both of my individual seed times are PR's done this year at a dual meet lol. I swim faster at high school than at BRY for some reason.

  6. Tanner should not be allowed to swim. Rules are rules and are there for a reason. Far too often in our society rules are not carried out equitably for everyone. I always empathize with the athlete. However, changing the rules now would potentially adversely affect other swimmers who we should also take into consideration.

  8. Are you serious. They have "consideration" times now for the state meet? That is embarassing. The time cuts aren't that fast to begin with.
